It is no secret now that Arsenal are on the market for a new creative midfielder. Mesut Ozil’s career at the Emirates is over, and the Gunners need someone to replace him – well, we needed someone six months ago.
Dominik Szoboszlai was heavily linked with a move to Arsenal, but RB Leipzig snapped him up last week. Lyon’s Houssem Aouar is reportedly on top of Mikel Arteta’s wish list, but the Frenchman might just be out of our budget.
Edu has a lot to do in the coming days to bring a new number 10 to Arsenal. Aouar would be the dream, but that signing looks unlikely in the January transfer window.

One player we can sign without too much trouble is Christian Eriksen. The former Tottenham Hotspur man has had a torrid year at Inter Milan, and it has become clear that he has no future under Antonio Conte.
Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for the Dane in recent weeks. Agreeing a deal with Inter Milan will not be easy, but their CEO has confirmed today that he will allow Eriksen to leave the San Siro next month.
He told Sky Sports Italy, as relayed by Fabrizio Romano: “Yes, I can confirm that Christian Eriksen is on the transfer list. He’s gonna leave in January. He’s not functional to our plans and he had difficulty here at Inter. I think it’s right that Christian goes away to find more space.”

Should Arsenal sign Eriksen?
Creativity is a serious issue at Arsenal at the moment. We have scored just 12 goals in 14 league games this season. That is simply not good enough and our league position says exactly that.
Szoboszlai – who we have already missed out on – and Aouar are long-term options that make sense financially. However, we need a short-term fix to get out of the hole we are currently in, and Eriksen is the perfect option for that.
The Dane knows the Premier League well and he was a star during his time here. He will create a ton of chances – both from open play as well as from set-pieces – and signing him will annoy a number of Tottenham fans, which is always a good thing.
