Ian McGarry of The Transfer Window Podcast has revealed that Arsenal have made a ‘solid enquiry’ to sign Celtic star Odsonne Edouard this summer.

The Gunners are reportedly considering the sales of Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah. Both strikers will enter the final year of their contracts this summer, and it is very likely that they will both end up moving.

Mikel Arteta and Edu are lining up replacements for the pair and Edouard is apparently on top of their list. The Celtic star has scored 20 goals and has provided four assists in what has been a terrible campaign for his side.

McGarry has revealed that Celtic are open to selling him for about £22 million and the Gunners have already initiated contact over a potential move in the summer.

Arsenal have enquired about Edouard

He said: “We at the Transfer Window understand there is another striker on the market [apart from Erling Haaland] for significantly less in terms of transfer fee, but potentially someone who could be just as effective – that is Odsonne Edouard of Celtic.

“He is someone who is available for around 25 million euros. It is also our information that Arsenal are a club who have made a solid enquiry with regards to a transfer with the next window in the summer.

“It’s also the case that Celtic who are under interim charge of John Kennedy are looking to sell players as well, possibly up to three players and Edouard is one of the main and possibly one of the most valuable assets at Parkhead.

“What I’ve been told is that they’re willing to market and sell Lacazette, who is of a similar style but aged 29 and the outlay that Arsenal have put in to him in terms of transfer fee and wages is someone they want to cash in on with regards to a move out.”

Arsenal Insider’s view:

It is no secret that Arsenal have kept an eye on Edouard for a while now.

The Frenchman, labelled a ‘top-class player’ by Brendan Rodgers, was heavily linked with a move to the Emirates last summer, but Lacazette decided to stay put and we didn’t need another number nine as a result.

It could be very different this time around. Laca is very likely to leave and with Celtic trying to sell Edouard as well, Edu could pull this off for a lot lesser than the £22 million that has been widely reported.
