There has been a key development in the future of Arsenal star Folarin Balogun, who is the subject of a lot of transfer interest this summer.

Journalist Ryan Taylor has revealed that Italian giants Inter Milan are now expected to step up their interest in the striker, after they missed out on their key target in Gianluca Scamacca, who is set to join Atalanta from West Ham United.

It seems likely that Balogun will leave Arsenal this summer. The 22-year-old has two years left on his contract, and following an excellent season on loan at Stade De Reims, he is now expecting to be given a first-team spot or be sold, with another loan out of the question.

There is a lot of interest in Balogun, and Arsenal are reportedly holding out for a £50m fee, which Inter were previously not prepared to pay. However, losing out on Scamacca is “significant” according to Taylor, as it may mean they become more determined to land the Arsenal starlet this summer.

Why Pele Is Overrated.

Should Arsenal sell Balogun to Inter?

Given the reported interest from Balogun from sides both in the Premier League and abroad, there should be no hurry to accept an offer which does not meet Arsenal’s asking price.

Given the high fees seen in deals for young strikers this summer, with Goncalo Ramos and Rasmus Hojlund both agreeing deals in excess of £70m, there is no reason why Balogun cannot attract a high fee given his status as a new USA international, who scored 24 goals at a club in a top league last season.

It is clear that Balogun should depart this summer, given that Arsenal have other options, and that his value may arguably have peaked right now, but the club will likely be confident that if they stand firm over their asking price, they may eventually receive a bid close to it.
