Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has now advised Mikel Arteta and his recruitment team to consider signing a player who has starred at Euro 2024.
In what could still be a busy summer for Arsenal, Arteta is said to be targeting three key signings.
A forward is on the shortlist, but perhaps not the goal-scoring striker that many imagined.
Arsenal seem much more likely to welcome a Nico Williams type talent, rather than Napoli’s Victor Osimhen.
Admittedly, both would be superb signings, but after failing in pursuit of Benjamin Sesko, it seems as if Arteta will be content with Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz at his disposal.
In terms of finding a central midfielder, it seems as if there’s still a lot of work to be done.
But perhaps Edu and his team have had more luck finding a left-sided defender.
Italy’s Riccardo Calafiori is said to be a key target for Arsenal right now – someone who can excel as a left-sided centre-back and also play as a full-back in a similar vein to Ben White.
Jorginho tells Mikel Arteta he must sign Bologna defender Riccardo Calafiori
To that end, Football Transfers have now shared that Jorginho has been ‘personally’ advising Arteta to sign Calafiori after sharing a Euro 2024 campaign with the defender.
Jorginho acted as a mentor for Calafiori in Germany, who transpired to be Italy’s best performer.

Perhaps that wasn’t the most difficult feat in a very underwhelming Euros for the Azzurri, but Calafiori still demonstrated his excellent credentials.
The 22-year-old, who has inevitably been linked with Serie A giants Juventus, would seriously improve Arsenal’s chances of delivering silverware next season.
But perhaps Arsenal’s biggest challenge now will be convincing the Italian to leave Italy.
Should Calafiori choose that path and head to Arsenal, he would become just the fifth Italian to play for the Gunners in the modern era.
Before Jorginho, some Arsenal fans may remember Arturo Lupoli who joined the club from Parma back in 2004.
Vito Mannone was next, a goalkeeper who spent eight years at Arsenal before leaving in 2013 for Sunderland.
And lastly, Emiliano Viviano who spent the 2013/14 season with the Gunners before returning to Parma.
Although Jorginho has been a success for Arteta, Calafiori could certainly raise the bar for Italians at Arsenal, a ‘powerful’ defender which so much potential to improve.
