Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has had his say on what it would mean if Victor Osimhen joined the club.
As reported by Football Transfers in August, Arsenal have already begun laying the groundwork for a deal to sign Napoli striker Victor Osimhen next summer.
Osimhen himself may now be keen to leave Napoli, as his relationship with the Serie A outfit is strained, as reported by Football.London.
The 24-year-old would be a sensational signing for the Gunners. Osimhen is one of the most highly-rated strikers in world football, and was utterly prolific last season, firing Napoli to a league title triumph with his 31 goals in all competitions.
Mikel Arteta has already said that he wants his side to become more ruthless. However, the Arsenal squad doesn’t currently contain an elite goalscoring striker with the killer instinct to take every chance. Osimhen would solve that problem.
Kevin Campbell is certainly excited by the prospect of seeing the 26-cap Nigeria international strut his stuff at the Emirates Stadium. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said, “what Osimhen would cost will be groundbreaking but it’s just like anything isn’t it? If you want to be that side, and you want that style of player, you’ve got to pay the money.”

Victor Osimhen can be a game changer for the Gunners
Osimhen certainly wouldn’t come cheap, but the Arsenal hierarchy have already shown that they are willing to back Arteta in the transfer market. The Gunners smashed their record transfer fee spend this summer with the £105 million acquisition of Declan Rice from West Ham United.
The arrival of Osimhen would be a signing on the scale of Rice, and he would be expected to have a similarly transformative impact on the club’s fortunes.
If Arsenal are serious about being genuine Premier League title contenders then they need a world class goalscorer. Osimhen would fill that gap in their squad and send a clear message of intent to the rest of the league.
