Lamine Yamal may have just cost Arsenal the chance of signing one of their top targets
The Gunners don’t just need a new striker this summer, but they also need to bring in a top-class wide player.
A right-footed Yamal would be a great option, but sadly for Arsenal, there’s nobody like him in world football right now.
There is, however, a brilliant left-winger whom Yamal knows really well. Arsenal have wanted him for a long time, but that dream may well be over now.
Lamine Yamal’s hint suggests Nico Williams is joining Barcelona instead of Arsenal
Nico Williams has been on Arsenal fans’ minds for a long time.
The Spaniard is a terrific player. He was brilliant for Spain at Euro 2024, and his performances made him a wanted man last year.
Arsenal have been trying to sign Williams for over 12 months now, and he still remains one of their top targets on the left wing.
However, Fabrizio Romano revealed on Friday that Williams met with Barcelona to discuss a potential move to the Camp Nou in the coming weeks.
Soon after that meeting, Lamine Yamal, out of nowhere, posted a couple of pictures of Williams on his Instagram story.
That is being viewed by many fans as a hint that Williams will be heading to Barcelona instead of other interested clubs like Arsenal.
Lamine Yamal’s comments on playing with Nico Williams may have cost Arsenal their top target
Lamine Yamal and Nico Williams were Spain’s best players when they won the Euros last year.
Most of the credit went to the young right-winger, but Williams delivered ‘world-class‘ performances on the opposite side as well throughout the tournament.
Yamal and Williams share a fantastic relationship off the pitch too, so much so that the former publicly claimed that he wants to play with his good pal every game.
He said in 2024, as per Goal: “I would like to play with him every week, I hope so, but he is now at Athletic.
“We like the same things, the same music, we watch dances on TikTok… I like reggaeton, French music, Brazilian…”
That may have convinced Williams to choose Barcelona over Arsenal and Bayern Munich this summer.
