Arsenal are reported to be closing in on a deal to sign Martin Zubimendi, with the midfielder ready to join the club in the summer.
The move will require the player to be fully on board with the switch, with the possibility of triggering his £51million release clause at Real Sociedad.
With the move still yet to be complete, there is still a threat from rivals as to whether the switch will go through in the months ahead.
Well according to Florian Plettenberg, teams aren’t quite giving up in the chase yet as four teams have been named as interested parties for Zubimendi.
Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, Barcelona and Liverpool are believed to be monitoring the situation in case of a chance to land a transfer steal.
With plenty of months to go between now and the transfer window, it remains to be seen if Zubimendi will change his mind.

Another star linked with a transfer to Arsenal is Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo, following the uncertainty over his future at the club.
With just 18 months left on his current contract, the Uruguayan international was facing a decision between staying or leaving the Blaugrana.
An exit seemed most likely, with Juventus and Arsenal among those teams linked, but there is a slight twist.
According to Fabrizio Romano, a deal in principle has been agreed between Araujo and Barcelona over an extension to his stay.
Talks have been held and it appears as though a new deal will scupper any chance of a transfer going through.
Man United block Marcus Rashford transfer
Another star linked with a switch to Arsenal is Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford, with his future at Old Trafford seeming to lie elsewhere.
While the Gunners are on the hunt for forwards, it would seem as though the England international won’t be one available to them.
That’s because, according to the Daily Star, Man United have blocked the prospect of joining a rival Premier League club.
That seemingly rules Arsenal out of the running, but it remains to be seen if that stance will change.
