Arsenal have reportedly tabled a bid to sign Kai Havertz from Chelsea this summer, and the German was once compared to Mesut Ozil – not for the right reasons.
The Gunners are on the market looking to reinforce multiple positions. MIdfield is the priority with Declan Rice the top target, but Mikel Arteta sees something in Havertz that he really likes.
David Ornstein claimed on The Athletic that Arsenal have made an opening proposal to sign Havertz this summer. The German is apparently a player who we have a ‘strong’ interest in, and talks are ongoing to bring him to the Emirates.

Why Pele Is Overrated.
Peter Crouch compared Kai Havertz to former Arsenal star Mesut Ozil
Mesut Ozil, in our opinion, is one of the most misunderstood players to play in the Premier League over the last 10 years.
The German helped us win three FA Cups in four years, playing a big part in all of them, but for some reason, he never quite got the credit he deserved from the neutrals.

‘Ozil is lazy’ was a term constantly used by the English media during his time at the Emirates, and Peter Crouch used the same reference while trying to criticise Kai Havertz.
Following Chelsea’s 1-0 loss to Juventus in the Champions League in 2021, a game in which Havertz missed a golden opportunity to score and was poor all game, Crouch claimed the Blues attacker reminded him of Ozil.
He told BT Sport, as quoted by The Sun: “I thought Ziyech and Havertz were very disappointing. I think Havertz reminds me of Ozil.
“He does things where it comes easy to him and he looks technically brilliant. But he can also look lazy and laboured at times and he can frustrate you and I thought tonight they were frustrating.”

The Insider’s View:
Ozil’s time at Arsenal came to a disappointing end, with Mikel Arteta banishing him from his squad and forcing him to leave the club back in January 2021.
However, the German was up there with the best number 10s in world football, and irrespective of public opinion, he deserves immense praise for his contribution to Arsenal.
Havertz does have similarities with the former Arsenal number 10. Don Hutchison even branded the Chelsea man as a ‘taller, faster Mesut Ozil‘ a few years ago, which is a very good description.
It is a surprise that Arteta wants to sign Havertz after how poor he has been at Chelsea, but we really think he could be an amazing player for Arsenal if we can sign him this summer.
