Liverpool have reportedly entered the race to sign Arsenal target Victor Osimhen.
According to The Sun, Liverpool are now interested in signing Napoli striker Victor Osimhen, and have sent scouts to watch him play.
Meanwhile, according to Football Transfers, Arsenal sporting director Edu has already held talks with the Serie A outfit over the potential of striking a deal for the forward.
One thing is certain, and that is that Osimhen will not come cheap. Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis has previously suggested that the 24-year-old has a €200 million price tag, which equates to around £175 million.
Arsenal do appear to be in the market for a new striker. Ivan Toney is also a target for Mikel Arteta, as reported by The Mirror.
If they could get a deal for Osimhen over the line, that would be a major coup for the north London outfit. However, landing the £93,000-a-week star has to be considered an extremely long shot at this stage.
Though, Arsenal have shown a willingness to spend heavily to attain their top targets recently, not least in the case of Declan Rice, who they shelled out a club-record £105 million to land in the recent summer transfer window.
Arsenal lacking killer finisher
It is easy to see why Arsenal are keen to add a top class goalscorer to their ranks. Gabriel Jesus is talented and brings a lot to the team, but his inconsistent finishing has led to some becoming somewhat “frustrated” with him.
Equally, for all his hard work, Eddie Nketiah does not look to be up to the task of firing the club to a Premier League title triumph.
Arsenal score goals by committee, with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, and Martin Odegaard all expected to contribute. Bringing in a truly prolific forward to spearhead the attack, who this supporting trio can still thrive around, would take the Gunners up a level.
