Arsenal transfer expert David Ornstein has delivered a worrying update about Folarin Balogun’s future at the Emirates, in his piece on The Athletic.

Balogun will enter the final six months of his contract next week. Arsenal have been trying really hard to extend his deal, but there hasn’t been a breakthrough just yet.
Ornstein was asked about Balogun’s future in his Q&A. The former BBC journalist has revealed that it looks increasingly likely that the youngster will leave in the summer.
Balogun likely to leave in the summer
He said: “Balogun is starting to accumulate minutes on the pitch but no agreement has been reached in negotiations over a new contract.”
“Talks have not stopped and the door is still open. However, the distance between the two parties is thought to be far and with the 19-year-old’s current deal expiring next summer, It looks increasingly likely he will depart as a free agent.”
“Although Balogun’s domestic admirers include Liverpool, he can speak to foreign clubs from January 1. That route is understood to hold greatest appeal at present, particularly Germany. It would be a major blow for the club if they were to lose the England Under-20 international, who has been prolific at youth level for Arsenal.”
Serge Gnabry, Ismael Bennacer and Donyell Malen are just a few players who Arsenal have let go for almost nothing. They are all thriving at their respective clubs and Balogun will do the same if we let him leave.
The time is running out for Mikel Arteta and Edu. January is under a week away and if Arsenal can’t agree a deal to extend his stay, a foreign club will snap him up, and we will certainly go on to regret it.
