Manager says 22-year-old star is good enough to play with Jurrien Timber at Arsenal

Feyenoord manager Arne Slot says he has a player who is actually at the level required to play for Arsenal along with Jurrien Timber.

The Gunners are expected to be active in the summer transfer window. We need reinforcements in multiple areas of the pitch, and we’re sure Edu Gaspar and Mikel Arteta are already working on their targets.

A new striker will be the priority, but Arsenal will have to dive into the market for reinforcements in the middle of the park as well, especially if either Thomas Partey or Jorginho end up leaving.

Arsenal have been linked with plenty of midfielders already, and the manager of one of Arteta’s targets has now backed his player to join the Gunners.

Manager says his player is good enough to play for Arsenal

Arsenal signed Jurrien Timber from Ajax in the summer of 2023.

The Dutchman impressed us all with his terrific performances in pre-season. He was on fire in Arsenal’s tour of the United States, and everyone expected a big season from him.

However, Timber suffered a serious knee injury in the first game of the Premier League campaign, and he has had to watch along from the sidelines since.

It is, however, clear that Mikel Arteta is a big fan of Timber, and if reports are to be believed, the Arsenal boss likes his twin brother, Quinten, too.

Now, the Dutchman’s manager at Feyenoord, Arne Slot, has hailed him and claimed that the 22-year-old is good enough to join his brother Jurrien at Arsenal one day.

He said on Ziggo Sport’s Rondo show: “If he continues to develop as he has in the past year, his ceiling is extremely high. Because he has made great development in the past year.

“I think he is a very special player because he has the strength and speed in midfield to create a surplus. And I also think he has a very good mentality and is a very good boy.

“I think they (the Timber brothers) are both very good. That one is already at Arsenal, and I don’t think it is ruled out that Quinten should also be able to go to a club of that calibre.”

Jurrien Timber injury update

It’s such a shame that we haven’t seen Jurrien Timber play for Arsenal since the first game of the season.

The Dutchman is clearly a terrific footballer. He can play anywhere across the back four and also in midfield, and if he was available, the Gunners would’ve been so much more unpredictable.

Timber is not too far away from full fitness now. He has been in training for a few weeks and reports have claimed that he is all set to be available for the business end of the season.

Arsenal take on Manchester City on Sunday in what is the biggest game game of our season so far.

There is a chance Timber could be available for that game considering he is back in training, but we’ll know more about that in Mikel Arteta‘s press conference in the coming days.
