Ethan Nwaneri has had a great start at Olympique Marseille after joining them from Arsenal on loan.

The teenager joined the French giants on a temporary deal last Friday, and Roberto De Zerbi named him in his starting lineup on the very next day.

Marseille president shares whether he will sign Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri on a permanent deal

Nwaneri is being heavily praised in France following his exciting debut for Marseille against Lens in Ligue 1.

The fact that the 18-year-old scored a goal and caught everyone’s eye after taking part in just one training session was really encouraging to see.

Marseille fans know that Ethan Nwaneri will return to Arsenal in the summer, but some of them are dreaming of signing him permanently.

However, the French club’s president, Longoria, has ruled out that possibility and confirmed that the youngster’s long-term future will be at Arsenal.

He told The Telegraph: “Let’s say a very clear thing – an option to buy is unrealistic. He’s one of the main assets for the future of Arsenal.

“The value for us is his talent and his sporting performances. For Arsenal, it’s contributing to the gameplay, and for the player, a step in growing up and being coached by Roberto (De Zerbi).”

Major Arsenal problem could open the door for Ethan Nwaneri

It is no surprise to hear that Nwaneri’s future lies at Arsenal, but he could become a key player sooner than people think.

The Gunners have a massive problem in attacking midfield at the moment, with Martin Odegaard and Eberechi Eze both struggling.

Arsenal need those two players to step up in the final months of the campaign. If they don’t, they cannot be a part of the club’s long-term future.

That could then open the door for Nwaneri to return in the summer and become Arsenal’s main man in that right-sided number eight position.

For that to happen, however, the Arsenal academy graduate needs to take full advantage of his loan spell at Marseille and deliver consistently in the coming months.
