Sandro Tonali has been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal since transfer deadline day.
The Gunners were in the market for a new midfielder following the potentially season-ending injury to Mikel Merino in the middle of the park.
The surprise name to come out of the rumour mill was that of Tonali, with David Ornstein claiming that his agent offered him to Arsenal.
That has opened the door for a potential move in the summer, and Mikel Arteta may already have a plan for the Newcastle United star.

Mikel Arteta wants to pair Sandro Tonali with Declan Rice in Arsenal’s midfield
Sandro Tonali is up there with the best midfielders in the Premier League.
The former AC Milan star has been really good for Newcastle United over the last year, and it’s only a matter of time before he moves to a bigger club.
After all the links between Tonali and Arsenal on deadline day, more reports are emerging about a potential summer move.
The Sun have claimed Arsenal are among three teams eyeing a blockbuster £100 million move for Tonali at the end of this season.

It has been claimed that Arteta ‘would love to’ form a partnership between Declan Rice and the Italian midfielder in the middle of Arsenal’s park.
That means summer signing Martin Zubimendi will have to make way for Tonali should he switch St James’ Park for the Emirates before the start of next season.
That would be a real shame, as the Spaniard has mostly been fantastic since he joined the club from Real Sociedad.
Furthermore, there’s no way Zubimendi will accept a second choice role at Arsenal either, especially as some of the biggest clubs in Europe were desperate to sign him before he chose the Gunners.

Forget Sandro Tonali, Arsenal should look for a different midfielder
Tonali is a phenomenal player, and he would definitely raise the level of the Arsenal squad.
However, spending around £100 million on a player just a year after splashing more than half of that on Zubimendi makes very little sense.
Besides, the former Real Sociedad man will be even better next season, so the last thing Arsenal should be doing is pushing him down the pecking order.
We think Arteta would be better off signing someone like Ayyoub Bouaddi to the Emirates.
The Frenchman is young, can learn from Zubimendi, fill in for him when required and then eventually replace him in Arsenal’s midfield.
That would make a lot more sense, especially as he will cost less than half of what Tonali will in the summer.
