Arsenal star Takehiro Tomiyasu’s future appears to be up in the air.

The Gunners have the strongest defence in the Premier League, and almost every one of their defenders are up there with the best in the country.

Tomiyasu, on his day, is definitely a top-class defender in every single position across the backline, and that makes him a very valuable member of the squad.

However, injuries have made him really unreliable.

Arsenal want to sell Takehiro Tomiyasu and sign Yann Bisseck in January

Injuries have constantly troubled Tomiyasu since he joined Arsenal.

The Japan international has missed 44 games for club and country since February 2022, and that number will go up in the coming days because he’s still currently injured.

That is not good news for Arsenal, which is probably why Gunners boss Mikel Arteta is thinking of life without him in 2025.

InterLive have revealed that Tomiyasu is a player Arteta could easily do without. It has been claimed that the defender has been offered to Inter Milan, either by his agents or Arsenal themselves.

The Italian champions don’t really need Tomiyasu right now, but there is a player at the San Siro that Arteta would like to bring to the Emirates – Yann Bisseck.

The report claims that if Arsenal can push Tomiyasu out of the door in January, they will try to sign Bisseck, a player who Arteta reportedly likes a lot.

It has further been claimed that Arsenal could offer around £21 million to sign the German, who helped Inter win the Serie A in 2023/24.

Who is Yann Bisseck?

Bisseck is a 23-year-old German defender who plays for Inter Milan.

The former Koln player has been described as ‘a colossus of a man’ because of his 6ft 5in frame and strength to completely ‘dominate’ his opponents.

Bisseck is ‘fearless in both ground and aerial duels’, which is probably why Arteta likes him. He is also a powerful runner and has been compared to Manchester City legend Yaya Toure (Breaking the Lines).

On paper, Bisseck checks a lot of boxes for Arsenal, and if Tomiyasu does leave in January, the German could prove to be a very astute signing for the Gunners.

However, it remains to be seen if there will be any buyers for Tomiyasu as his injury record really is worrying.
