Newcastle United have considered launching a move to sign Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe.

According to journalist Ben Jacobs, speaking to GiveMeSport, Newcastle United have internally ‘discussed’ making an attempt to secure the services of Arsenal ace Emile Smith Rowe.

However, the reporter also made it clear that the 23-year-old is yet to decide his own future. The player himself will take his time over assessing whether he still has a viable future at the Emirates Stadium.

This state of affairs makes it trickier for the Magpies to plot a swoop for Smith Rowe whilst there is still uncertainty over whether or not he wants to leave the north London club.

Many Arsenal fans will want Smith Rowe to stay at the club. As a talented Hale End academy graduate, he is a beloved figure amongst the supporters. However, for the good of his own career, the £40,000-a-week starlet may well be wise to seek pastures new before long.

Smith Rowe must make right call

Mikel Arteta seems to have lost faith in the three-cap England international. The likes of Gabriel Martinelli, Leandro Trossard, and Fabio Vieira are all currently ahead of him in the pecking order.

Arteta certainly knows how good Smith Rowe has the capacity to be. The player has shone in the Premier League before. He scored ten goals in the competition during the 2021/22 season. However, injury issues have halted his progress since then.

A fresh start could be in order, but it would be a huge boost for the Gunners if Smith Rowe could get back to his best whilst still at the club and force his way back into the regular starting XI.

The most important thing is that Smith Rowe makes the best decision for his own career. He is too talented to simply drift into squad-filler obscurity.
