Arsenal loanee Harry Clarke scored a late equaliser for Stoke City against Burnley yesterday, and the youngster decided to copy Cristiano Ronaldo‘s signature ‘Siu’ celebration.

Clarke joined Arsenal’s academy from Ipswich as a 14-year-old back in July 2015. He has come through the ranks and although he hasn’t quite been able to make his senior debut yet, he has impressed during his loan spells.

After a successful spell in Scotland with Hibernian last season, Arsenal loaned Clarke out to Stoke City in the summer. After starting each of their first two league games, the 21-year-old suffered an injury that ruled him out of the next eight.

Clarke returned to action last weekend and in his second appearance back yesterday against Burnley, he came off the bench and managed to score in the 87th minute to help his side pick up a very important point.

Right after he found the net, the Arsenal loanee ran to the corner flag to celebrate. Just like he did in his home debut back in August, he decided to hit the ‘Siu’ – a celebration created and popularised by Manchester United superstar Ronaldo.

Ronaldo first did the ‘Siu’ celebration in 2013

Ronaldo’s ‘Siu’ is arguably the most popular football celebration in the world. Every fan across the globe knows what it is, and it is now being copied by fellow footballers as well.

Although the celebration seems recent, CR7 first pulled it off almost a decade ago – in 2013 during a pre-season game against Chelsea in the United States.

Speaking about the celebration, Ronaldo said in 2019, as quoted by The Sun: “I started to say ‘si’, it’s like ‘yes’, when I was in Real Madrid. When we would win, everyone would say ‘siiiii’ and so I started to say it. I don’t know why, it was natural.

“I was in the USA and we played against Chelsea and I don’t know where this is coming from, the celebration. I just scored the goal and it just came out. It was just natural, to be honest.

“Since that, I started to do it more often and I feel like the supporters and the fans see it and they’re like ‘Cristiano, siiiiiiuuuu’. I’m like ‘wow! People are reminded of me because of it!’ So it’s good, and I’ll continue doing it like that.”
