Marquinhos was the next Brazilian to come in at Arsenal last summer, and his talent is there for everyone to see.
One of his assists for the youth team right after he joined us was branded as ‘breathtaking’ by Jeorge Bird, and he managed a goal and an assist on his senior debut too.
After a spell on loan at Norwich City in the second half of last season, Marquinhos was expected to leave on a temporary deal for the upcoming campaign as well.
However, the report claims that a permanent move to Nottingham Forest is on the cards, while a loan move with an option to buy to Nantes in France is also a possibility.
Marquinhos still has four years left on his Arsenal contract.
The Insider’s View:
Marquinhos is a really talented player and he definitely has the potential to become a regular at the top level. However, we won’t be surprised if Arsenal let him go.
The Gunners have Bukayo Saka, who’s only a year older than 20-year-old Marquinhos, on the right wing. There’s no way he’s losing his spot as long as he’s at the club.
Marquinhos was always viewed as a backup in that position, but Arsenal have Amario Cozier-Duberry coming through the ranks, and we must say, the way he plays is almost a carbon copy of Saka.
So, if a good offer comes in from Forest or another club, we won’t be surprised to see Marquinhos leaving this month.
