Former Premier League winger Trevor Sinclair featured on TalkSport (Wednesday, 12:30 pm) where he claimed that Arsenal could do with a player like Chelsea’s Tammy Abraham.
The 23-year-old has dropped down the pecking order at Stamford Bridge after Frank Lampard faced the sack. If reports are to be believed, he will be available on the market this summer, with Chelsea looking for a fee in the region of £40 million. (The Telegraph)
Multiple Premier League sides are reportedly keen on Abraham’s services, but should Arsenal really be looking at him? Sinclair certainly thinks so.
He said: “Another team that’s slightly off-piste, I think Arsenal could do with him (Abraham).
“A London club, Lacazette is getting older. He would bring something slightly different with his height. He’s mobile, he’s got good feet. I think he could be a good pick for Arsenal. He’s obviously a talented player. I’m a big fan and I just want him to play football.”
Should Arsenal make a move for Abraham?
Absolutely not.
Don’t get us wrong, Abraham is a talented young forward who has the quality to go on and make a real name for himself. However, is he really better than someone like Eddie Nketiah or even Folarin Balogun?
Selling Nketiah for about £20 million and spending twice as much as that on Abraham makes no sense whatsoever.
If Lacazette leaves and Arsenal dive into the market for a new centre-forward, Edu can surely find players far superior to Abraham for a considerably lesser transfer fee.
