According to a report from The Daily Mail, Arsenal are battling Chelsea, Manchester City, RB Leipzig and Paris Saint-Germain to sign Inter Milan youngster Martin Satriano.
The Gunners are expected to be very active on the market this summer. We have shown in recent years that we are ready to bring in unproven young players and give them a chance at the top level – just look at Gabriel Martinelli and Matteo Guendouzi.
If a latest report is to be believed, Arsenal are looking to bring in another young talent, but we are set to face some serious competition for his signature in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Satriano, still only 20, was compared to Swedish superstar Zlatan Ibrahimovic a few years ago. (The Sun) The youngster is still yet to play a senior game in his career, but his performances for the Nerazzurri’s youth sides have been very impressive.
In just 16 starts for Inter’s Primavera side, Satriano has scored eight goals and has provided an assist. He has played a centre-forward in most games, but he is also capable of playing just behind the number nine – in a second-striker role.
Inter are really excited about Satriano but with their financial situation worsening day by day, they are prepared to cash-in on their young striker if a good offer comes in this summer.
The Insider’s View:
Satriano is a really talented youngster who has the potential play for one of the big clubs in the future. However, there isn’t really a need for him at Arsenal – even in the youth teams.
Mikel Arteta’s first-team is stacked with options up top. There’s no way Satriano will come in and change that this summer, which rules out a direct entry into the senior side.
Arsenal’s youth sides have quality young strikers coming through as well. Tyreece John-Jules and Nikolaj Moller are nowhere near ready for the first-team yet, and bringing in someone like Satriano will only hamper their development.
The Gunners may well like the young Uruguayan striker but the chances of a deal happening this summer is very slim, especially with clubs like Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG reportedly interested.
