Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is eyeing a January loan deal for Real Madrid sensation Vinicius Junior, according to a report from The Daily Star.
Lack of goals has been a huge concern for the Gunners this term. We have only scored just 12 goals in the Premier League in 14 games, and that has pushed us down to 15th in the table.
Arteta needs to change something in attack to get back to winning ways. A move for Real Madrid playmaker Isco has been in the news over the last few weeks, but the report claims that the Spaniard is heading to Juventus instead.
A player of Isco’s quality is exactly what we need at the moment. We lack that creative spark from midfield and the Real Madrid man would have solved that issue without too much trouble.
Vinicius, on the other hand, is an out-and-out attacker. He plays his trade on the flanks and he is rapid. The 20-year-old has three goals and three assists to his name in 10 starts in all competitions this term.
Eden Hazard’s injury problems and Gareth Bale’s departure gave Vinicius a huge opportunity to make his mark. Sadly, he hasn’t quite been able to do it. As a result, Real Madrid are looking to loan him out next month and Arsenal reportedly keen.
Do Arsenal really need Vinicius?
Vinicus is an incredible talent, there is absolutely no doubt about that. The Brazilian has the potential to follow the footsteps of someone like Neymar, who left Brazil for La Liga and is now one of the best players in the world at PSG.
Most clubs in the world wouldn’t think twice if they were offered Vinicius, but at Arsenal, things could be different.
We already have Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Willian, Nicolas Pepe and Reiss Nelson available on the flanks. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Emile Smith Rowe can also play out wide which makes a move for Vinicius unnecessary in next month’s transfer window.
