Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is interested in signing Dinamo Zagreb star Mislav Orsic, according to a report from The Times (print edition, Thursday, page 66).
The Gunners are reportedly looking to bolster their attack in the upcoming summer transfer window.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
Willian has struggled for most parts this season, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been moved to a number nine role. Nicolas Pepe has been brilliant recently, but it just feels as though Arteta doesn’t rate him.
The Arsenal boss wants to address that situation before the start of next season, and he is reportedly eyeing a move for the 28-year-old who broke Tottenham fans’ hearts just seven days ago.
Orsic knocked Spurs out of Europe
Jose Mourinho’s men went to Zagreb last week with a 2-0 lead and one step in the quarter-finals of the Europa League. Spurs were the favourites to go through, but in typical Tottenham fashion, they imploded.
Orsic bagged a brace in the second half to take the game to extra time before scoring his third in the 106th minute to dump Spurs out of the competition.
He has received plaudits from across Europe for his performance last week, and it looks like that display has made Arsenal consider a move for him this summer.
The Insider’s View:
Orsic is undoubtedly Dinamo Zagreb’s superstar. He was their hero in the Europa League last week, and he has been exceptional for them all season having scored 19 goals from the left-wing in all competitions.
However, at 28 years of age and not having played a single game in Europe’s top leagues, it is very hard to imagine that Arsenal really are interested in his services ahead of the summer transfer window.
Even if the interest isn’t genuine, Arsenal fans will always consider Orsic as a fellow Gooner for humiliating Tottenham last week.
