According to a report from The Sun, Arsenal have shown an interest in newly-promoted Watford’s 27-year-old goalkeeper Daniel Bachmann.

The Austrian had a very impressive campaign in the Championship for the Hornets last season. He played no part in the first 23 league games, but became a regular after, and conceded just 13 goals in 23 appearances.

Bachmann, who played every game for Austria at the Euros, has reportedly caught Mikel Arteta’s eye. However, it doesn’t look like the Gunners can get this deal over the line in the coming weeks.

Watford are refusing to sell Arsenal-linked Bachmann

The report claims that Arsenal and Ajax are both interested in signing Bachmann this summer. However, the Hornets are not willing to sell their £15 million-rated keeper in this window as he is an important part of manager Xisco’s plans.

The Austrian still has three years left on his contract as well, which puts Watford in a really strong position in potential transfer negotiations.

Arsenal will now have to look elsewhere. Aaron Ramsdale still seems to be our number one target, and a new bid is expected soon. It’s unclear if this move will actually go through, but the one thing that’s clear as day is that we need a new goalkeeper, and we need one before the start of the new season.
