According to a report from The Evening Standard, Arsenal are hoping to get rid of two players by the end of this week.
The Gunners are yet to make a major midfield addition in this transfer window. Willian, Gabriel Magalhaes and Alex Runarsson have been our only arrivals so far, but our marquee signings aren’t expected until we get a few players off our books.
Emiliano Martinez’s departure gave our transfer kitty a big boost. However, his sale alone won’t be enough to fund Mikel Arteta’s other targets. Arsenal are trying to sell Matteo Guendouzi and Mesut Ozil, but it is proving to be tougher than we thought.
Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Shkodran Mustafi are also said to be on the transfer list, but there hasn’t been any movements on that front either. Some reports claimed that Alexandre Lacazette would be sold if a good enough offer came in, but after three goals in three starts, he is likely to stay.
That leaves Arsenal with Lucas Torreira and Sead Kolasinac. The duo have been heavily linked with a move away from the club, and if reports are to be believed, they are expected to leave by the end of this week.
Kolasinac and Torreira’s exits are imminent
Torreira is expected to join Atletico Madrid on a season-long loan deal. The Uruguayan started his Arsenal career brilliantly, but he hasn’t quite looked the same over the last year due to various reasons; some that have nothing to do with him.
Kolasinac is another one who has fallen down the pecking order. The left-back is behind Kieran Tierney, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and even Bukayo Saka, which isn’t a good sign for him. The Bosnian is expected to complete a £10 million to Bayer Leverkusen in the next few days.
Those two departures will reportedly give Arsenal the funds they need to bring in Houssem Aouar. He is our top target and signing him is an absolute priority, especially after what happened against Liverpool on Monday. (Read here)
It will be interesting to see if Arsenal can make another big signing after Aouar. Thomas Partey has been heavily linked with us for months now. Signing both the Ghanaian and the Frenchman would make this one our best ever transfer windows, but it is unlikely.
