Arsenal are battling Everton to sign Stade Reims star Boulaye Dia ahead of the January transfer window, according to Le10 Sport.

The Gunners are struggling for goals in the Premier League at the moment. We have scored once from open play since the game against Sheffield United in October, and that has pushed us down to 15th in the league table.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

The January transfer window has to be a special one for Arsenal. We have to dip into the market to solve our woes in attack, and it looks like we are interested in a striker instead of a creative midfielder.

Dia caught the eye of a number of French clubs last season. Marseille have been tracking him for over a year now, while Lyon are considering a move for him if one of Moussa Dembele or Memphis Depay leave the club next month.

The Reims man wanted to leave last summer but didn’t get the offers he had hoped for. That will likely change soon after his incredible start to the season in the Ligue 1.

Dia has scored more goals than Neymar and Depay

Dia has scored eight goals in 13 starts this term. That is an extraordinary return on its own, but when you compare that to some of the stars in the French top-flight, it shows you why he is on the radar of a number of clubs.

The 24-year-old is only behind Kylian Mbappe in the top scorers list. He has outscored the likes of Wissam ben Yedder, Memphis Depay, Moise Kean and even the most expensive player in the world – Neymar.

A big move is surely just around the corner for Dia, but Arsenal’s interest makes no sense. We already have Alexandre Lacazette, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Eddie Nketiah and Folarin Balogun up top, and the need for another number nine is zero.

The problem at the moment is that there is no service for our front men, and signing Dia will not change that. A creator has to be on top of Arsenal’s priorities next month, and the Reims man is not that sort of player.
