Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta and technical director Edu are already planning for the summer transfer window.
The Gunners’ season so far has been a disappointing one. We are currently 10th in the Premier League table, and we will head into the second-leg of our Europa League clash against Benfica without a lead.
Our summer targets will depend on where we end up at the end of this season, but that hasn’t stopped Arteta and Edu from creating a shortlist of players that they want to target. One such player is Sevilla’s Bryan Gil. (Mundo Deportivo)
The 20-year-old winger is currently out on loan at Eibar and his performances have earned him rave reviews. He was recently compared to PSG and Brazil star Neymar by Barcelona scout German Vaya Ballabriga ‘Mani’, who has apparently told the Catalans to sign him this summer. (Cadena Ser)
Barcelona and Arsenal are set to go head to head for his signature this summer, but Sevilla are doing everything they can to keep hold of him.
Sevilla working to renew Gil’s contract
Mundo Deportivo claim that Julen Lopetegui and Monchi are desperate to tie the 20-year-old down to a new deal.
Gil’s current contract expires in 2023 and has a release clause of £30 million. Sevilla want to push that up to £130 million soon, but Barcelona and Arsenal’s interest could make things very difficult.
If the Gunners really are interested, Edu has to act quick. A fee of £30 million is a lot of money for a 20-year-old. However, the same scout who discovered Andres Iniesta and Ansu Fati has compared Gil to Neymar (Goal), so the money probably will be worth it.
It will be interesting to see how this pans out. Barcelona will no doubt be the favourites for his signature, but Edu has shown he is capable of getting big deals done – So, we may just have a chance in this race this summer.
