According to a report from Sport Bild, Arsenal are interested in signing Bayer Leverkusen’s Jonathan Tah in the summer.
Mikel Arteta’s number one priority for the summer has to be a new central defender. The report claims that Dayot Upamecano is our primary target but a player of his quality is certain to attract other big clubs.

The Gunners will still try to sign the Frenchman but should that fail, Tah is next on Arteta’s list. The German was tipped to be the next Jerome Boateng but he has failed to live up to the hype.
However, that isn’t to say that he isn’t a good defender. Tah, still only 24, has good experience under his belt having played close to 170 games for Leverkusen.

The German international is strong in the air, good with the ball at his feet and isn’t too fazed with the physical side of the game. However, there is still some work to be done with respect to his positioning but that can be worked on.
Tah will reportedly be available for £33.2 million thanks to a release clause in his contract. That isn’t a massive amount to pay in today’s market but he should only be looked at if Arsenal’s move for Upamecano fails.
