Arsenal are battling Everton and Aston Villa to sign Fulham midfielder Andre-Frank Anguissa this summer, according to The Daily Mail.
The Gunners are expected to be very active in the upcoming transfer window. Mikel Arteta will likely be backed by the owners, but lack of European football is still a big handicap.
My Revenge On Ben Foster
As a result, Arsenal might have to take a step back and target players from smaller clubs instead of superstars. Yves Bissouma is definitely one of them, but the Mali international is wanted by several big sides this summer.
That hurts our chances of signing him before the start of next season. Arteta will have to look elsewhere and if the report from the Daily Mail is to be believed, Anguissa is the man we are targeting ahead of the upcoming window.
The 25-year-old Cameroonian suffered relegation with Fulham earlier this week. He went out on loan the last time the Lilywhites went down, but he’s expected to move on permanently now.
The report claims that Scott Parker’s men are prepared to let him leave if an offer of £20 million arrives. That isn’t a lot of money in today’s world, which is why there will be a lot of competition for his signature in the coming weeks.
Should Arsenal sign Andre-Frank Anguissa?
Arsenal definitely need a new central midfielder. We signed Thomas Partey to solidify the middle of our park, but the Ghanaian has lacked a perfect partner who can be relied upon defensively.
Bissouma, in many people’s eyes, is the ideal player to partner Partey at Arsenal. He has had a tremendous season for Brighton and there is no doubt about the fact that he will go on to have a fine career at a top club very soon. Sadly, it will not be easy to sign him.
Anguissa, on the other hand, has had his moments in the Premier League this term, but there are still a lot of question marks about his quality at the highest level.
Fulham owner Tony Khan once called him a ‘world-class talent‘, but there has been very little evidence of that on a consistent basis, which makes him a very risky signing for Arsenal.
