Report: Arsenal now have transfer plan to resolve two massive squad issues

Arsenal are reportedly keen to sign an attacker who can play out wide and also provide cover for Gabriel Jesus in January, with the Brazilian’s injury causing the Gunners to change their transfer plans.

According to the Evening Standard, Mikel Arteta has been forced to reconsider his motives in January after Jesus picked up a serious knee injury whilst at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Brazil. As a result, the striker will miss up to three months of action.

The injury was one of the worst things that could have possible happened to Arsenal at the World Cup, and the blow to Jesus has led to Arteta to completely change his transfer plans for January. However, a solution now appears to be on the cards.

As per the report, Arsenal will now look to target an attacker who can play both as a striker and out wide, with a winger to compete with Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka always something the Gunners were looking to sign in the January window.

Joao Felix and Jonathan David are both noted as players who could fit this criteria ahead of the January window. However, given how expensive either player would be, there’s a strong chance that Arsenal will seek a cheaper option in the market, with central midfield also a key issue that needs to be resolved.
