Arsenal are expected to be very busy in the summer transfer window – both in terms of new signings and outgoings.

Mikel Arteta has a lot to decide in the coming months. Matteo Guendouzi and Lucas Torreira are very likely to be sold this summer, while a decision has to be made over the futures of Eddie Nketiah, Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Joe Willock.

The one big name who could leave Arsenal this summer is Alexandre Lacazette.

The Frenchman will enter the final year of his contract at the end of this season. Arteta, admittedly, is happy with him, but the chances of Arsenal offering him a new deal are extremely slim considering that he will soon turn 30.

CalcioMercato have revealed today that the negotiations between Lacazette and the Gunners are not progressing quickly. The former Lyon man does not want to lower his salary and it makes little sense for Arsenal to pay him the same or more.

As a result, Lacazette wants to try something new in his career. He has reportedly instructed his agents to find a new challenge for him, and his people have offered him to European giants Juventus, Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.

Arsenal Insider’s view:

The report claims that all three clubs are looking for a new striker, but is that really true?

Juventus have Cristiano Ronaldo leading the line at the moment and there is no way Lacazette will be replacing him. Alvaro Morata is on loan in Turin and the Old Lady have an option to buy him permanently this summer.

Atletico Madrid, on the other hand, have Joao Felix and Luis Suarez up top. Morata could return as well if Juve don’t exercise their option to buy him, which eliminates the need for a new striker.

That leaves Barcelona. The Blaugrana just elected a new president and he has a lot to do. Joan Laporta has to find a way to keep Lionel Messi, steady Barca’s terrible finances and also strengthen his side.

A 30-year-old Lacazette wouldn’t usually be an option but he could well be considered this time around. He is a quality player and the fact that he will only have a year left on his contract could make him a very attractive option for this economically challenged Barca side.
