Spanish media outlet Libertad Digital have claimed that Arsenal are interested in signing Thomas Partey in the summer.
The Atletico Madrid midfielder has a £42 million release clause which can be triggered in the summer transfer window.
Multiple reports have claimed that Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta is looking for a box-to-box midfielder. Partey is more of a number six but he is more than capable of playing in an advanced role when needed.

The report claims that Arsenal are serious about making a move for him in the summer. However, Partey is also in talks with Atleti over a new deal which would extend his stay there beyond 2023.
Would Arsenal be an attractive proposition for Partey?
If Partey did want to leave, the Premier League has to be his preferred choice. The Ghanian will attract a number of clubs from but Arsenal could well be his best option here in England.
Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool and Tottenham don’t need another defensive midfielder. Manchester United need one but Arsenal should fancy themselves to beat their old rivals to any player’s signature at the moment.

However, Champions League football will be hugely important for any club to convince him. Fourth place is seven points away which isn’t that big a gap but winning the Europa League seems to be the easier route.
We have one foot into the next round after beating Olympiakos but there’s still a long way to go. Partey would certainly be a phenomenal addition to our squad but it seems unrealistic at this point.
