A bizarre report from Italian outlet Roma Today claim that Jose Mourinho is not just keen to sign Arsenal star Granit Xhaka, he wants Bukayo Saka as well.
The report claims that the new Roma boss is a massive fan of the teenager, who has been absolutely incredible for club and country over the last 18 months. He is one of the best young players in the world at the moment, and it’s no surprise that top managers really like him.
However, Roma have as much chance of signing Saka as Arsenal have of bringing in Kylian Mbappe, Erling Haaland, Neymar and Lionel Messi before sunset today.
How much will Arsenal demand for Bukayo Saka?
All of us know that Saka will cost any club in the world a fee in excess of £100 million if they really want him, but the Italian outlet have made a very bizarre claim.
They say that Arsenal have demanded just £45 million for Saka and that has alerted the Giallorossi. If that wasn’t ridiculous enough, they also go on to say that Roma’s sporting director, Tiago Pinto, wants to sign him on a loan deal with an obligation to buy clause.
The report claims that Roma are now trying to secure a double deal for Xhaka and Saka in the coming days, and they hint that although it is difficult, there is a chance for Mourinho to secure this.
Yep, you can all laugh now.
Keep dreaming, Jose
We’ve all seen plenty of crazy transfer rumours over the years, but this one has got to be up there. There’s absolutely no way Arsenal will even consider selling Saka, let alone for the terms Roma Today have claimed in their story.
£45 million for a teenager who is starring for club and country and has just come off the back of a seven-goal, 10-assist season is absolutely ridiculous. Roma can triple that fee and they still won’t be able to get him.
Mourinho may really be a huge fan of Saka, just like we all are. He may even want to work with him one day, but the report makes no sense whatsoever, and this is one deal that we can guarantee will never ever happen.
