According to a report from FC Inter News, both Inter Milan and Achraf Hakimi have rejected Arsenal’s ‘real attempt’ to sign the full-back.

The Moroccan, signed by the Nerazzurri for £36 million last year, is reportedly on the Gunners’ wish list. The Telegraph recently revealed that Arsenal will try to sign Hakimi as a replacement to Hector Bellerin, who is expected to move on this summer.

The Spaniard has fallen down the pecking order over the last few weeks. He hasn’t played a single minute in the Premier League since the start of last month, and it is almost certain now that he will be sold at the end of this season.

Bellerin is an integral part of Arsenal’s side, both on and off the pitch. Replacing him will be an absolute priority for Mikel Arteta and Edu, and Hakimi would’ve been a very good addition.

However, it looks like neither him nor Inter are ready to entertain any offers this summer. The report claims that the Italian league leaders hung up the phone when Arsenal approached them with an offer for the former Real Madrid man.

They aren’t even willing to begin talks about a potential deal, which is bad news for Arsenal. The Gunners will now have to look elsewhere for a new right-back, and thankfully for Edu, there are a few decent options out there.

The Insider’s View:

A deal for Hakimi was always going to be difficult. Inter only signed him last year and he has been excellent for them. They were expected to do everything they could to keep their man, but their financial difficulties offered Arsenal a bit of hope.

However, that ray of hope looks like its gone now. Inter are adamant that they will not entertain any offers for Hakimi and the fact that they aren’t even willing to negotiate shows just how strong their stance is.

Arsenal have been linked with plenty of other right-backs ahead of the summer window. Edu and Arteta are likely to get one in before the window shuts, but fans who wanted Hakimi will be left disappointed.
