Arsenal, Mikel Arteta and everyone associated with the club would love nothing more than to sign Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid on a permanent deal.
The Norwegian joined us on loan in January and he has been a huge hit. He has been one of our best players over the last four weeks, and Arsenal fans have fallen in love with him.
All the cards are in Real Madrid’s hands and there is a good chance that the Galacticos may choose to keep hold of him. That would be a huge blow for Arsenal as Odegaard is a perfect fit in Arteta’s system.
The Gunners will have to come up with alternatives to the Norwegian this summer. If a latest report is to be believed, we are lining up a move for a world-class attacker who has won almost everything at club level.
Spanish outlet Sport claim today that Arsenal have Juventus star Paulo Dybala on their wish list if a deal for Odegaard becomes impossible this summer.
The Argentine international, labelled a ‘special talent’ by former Gunner Wojciech Szczesny, will enter the final year of his contract at the end of this season.
It does not look like he will sign a new deal in Turin, which means that Juve will have to sell him to avoid losing him on a free transfer a year later.
Arsenal will reportedly look to take advantage of the situation and offer Dybala a way out. However, the Argentine will certainly not be short of offers as some of the biggest clubs in the world will try to sign him if he becomes available.
The Insider’s View:
There is absolutely no doubt about the fact that Dybala is one of the best players in the world. He can score, he can assist and he can play in multiple positions, which is a huge boon for every manager.
He scored 17 goals and provided 14 assists in all competitions last season. He is struggling with a serious injury at the moment, but if he can get himself back to full fitness, he has the quality to play for any club in the world.
Arsenal are right to consider signing Dybala in the summer. The Argentine would be a world-class addition, but he should only be an option if Real Madrid categorically refuse to sell Odegaard at the end of this season.
