Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has a very difficult decision to make regarding Joe Willock as Newcastle United are still very keen to sign him this summer.

The Englishman joined the Magpies on loan in January and became an instant hit after scoring on his debut. He was fairly quiet for a few games after, but he managed to turn into one of the best midfielders in the country in the final few weeks of the season.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Willock managed to score in seven consecutive games for the Magpies. He became the youngest player in the history of the Premier League to do so, and it really won’t be wrong to say that Newcastle would’ve gone down without him.

Steve Bruce has been very vocal about his desire to sign him over the last few months. Arsenal’s asking price has certainly gone up now after Willock’s phenomenal end to the season, and Newcastle are trying to be creative with their offer to convince Edu to let the midfielder go.

Newcastle could offer a player in exchange for Arsenal star Joe Willock

The Chronicle claim that Newcastle United could offer goalkeeper Freddie Woodman plus cash to sign Willock this summer.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper has been linked with a move to Arsenal for quite some time now. The report claims that the Gunners are keen to bring in a home-grown goalkeeper in the coming days, and Woodman has been scouted on multiple occasions.

‘He’s so good’: Some Arsenal fans think they’ve found the perfect replacement for Bernd Leno

Newcastle reportedly value Woodman at £10 million. He alone will definitely not be enough to convince Arsenal, which is why the Magpies are set to throw in some cash too to tempt the Gunners into selling Willock this summer.

The Insider’s View:

Arsenal are in need of a backup goalkeeper this summer and Woodman really is an interesting option. He was brilliant for Swansea in the Championship last season, where he registered a really impressive 22 clean sheets.

The fact that he is still only 24 and is home grown as well makes him a fantastic player to target, but is it really worth letting Willock go to bring him in? We don’t think so.

‘What I’m told is’: Fabrizio Romano shares Arsenal’s plan for Joe Willock

Willock showed last season that he has what it takes to perform at the highest level in the Premier League. He scored some hugely important goals against some of the biggest teams in the country as well.

With Arsenal extremely short of options in the middle of the park, the Englishman, labelled as ‘amazing‘ by Allan Saint-Maximin, could prove to be very useful for us next season.

Woodman really is excellent but keeping hold of Willock makes more sense this summer.
