Report: Sven Mislintat in talks to sign Arsenal player for nothing in 2021

Does anyone remember Sven Mislintat? The German was appointed as our head of scouting and recruitment in December 2017 and spent a little over a year with us.

He left in February 2019 after disagreements with Raul Sanllehi at Arsenal, but he worked wonders at the Emirates when he was still in charge.

My Revenge On Ben Foster

Mislintat was responsible for the signings of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dinos Mavropanos, Matteo Guendouzi, Lucas Torreira, Bernd Leno and Sokratis Papastathopoulos at Arsenal. Him leaving didn’t go down too well with the fans, but there was nothing he could do.

The German is now the Sporting Director of Bundesliga side Stuttgart. He is working really well there and it looks like he could get some revenge on Arsenal for forcing him out of the club.

Kicker claim that Mislintat and Stuttgart are in talks to sign Arsenal’s Folarin Balogun in the summer. The teenager is yet to agree a new deal with us and it is looking increasingly likely that he will leave as a free agent at the end of this season.

The report claims that Mislintat knows Balogun very well. He has had his eye on the young striker for a while now, and the fact that he will be available for nothing in the summer makes him an excellent option for Stuttgart.

Arsenal Insider’s view:

Arsenal are in a bad situation with respect to Balogun’s contract. The teenager can speak to foreign clubs from Friday and it will not be a surprise to see a few really good clubs push for his signature.

Both Edu and Mikel Arteta have been trying really hard to convince the youngster to stay. The Arsenal boss seemed extremely confident a few weeks ago that Balogun would sign a new contract, but things aren’t the same anymore.

It does look like Arsenal will lose yet another fantastic young talent. Serge Gnabry, Donyell Malen and Ismael Bennacer among others are all stars now at their respective clubs, and Balogun will most likely be the same unless Edu can pull something out of the hat in the coming days to convince him to stay.
