Arsenal’s recruitment in recent years has been one of their biggest strengths.

The Gunners have made a few mistakes with signings like Willian and Raheem Sterling, but for the most part, they have been success stories.

Andrea Berta played a major role in Arsenal’s signings last summer, and he also brought in one of the best talent spotters in the game to help him behind the scenes – Maurizio Micheli.

Now, the Italian scout has approved a new target – Christos Tzolis.

Imagine you are Andrea Berta. Who is your top target for Arsenal in the summer transfer window?

Arsenal are working on signing Christos Tzolis after Maurizio Micheli scouted him

It is no secret that Arsenal are keen to strengthen their left-wing position this summer.

The Gunners have Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard available on the left flank, but the futures of both players are up in the air.

Arsenal could end up signing two wingers this summer, and David Ornstein has revealed on The Athletic that one of them is Club Brugge’s Tzolis.

Multiple reports have claimed that Arsenal are exploring a deal to sign the 24-year-old Greek ‘superstar‘, who scored 22 goals and provided 29 assists in all competitions last season.

The Daily Mail have now revealed that before Berta began his work on the deal, Micheli, who works for the Gunners now, flew over to Sweden to watch him play for Greece.

Tzolis picked up an assist in that game, and that may have impressed Micheli, which is perhaps why a potential deal is now being discussed.

Ornstein has revealed that Tzolis could cost a fee in the region of £35 million. It remains to be seen now if Berta will agree to pay that figure to get a deal done.

Maurizio Micheli knows a good talent when he sees one

Before joining Arsenal, Micheli was the head of scouting at Napoli.

The Italian was at the club when they won the Serie A title for the first time in decades, and he played a significant role behind the scenes.

Micheli was the one who discovered Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s brilliance, and he brought him to Napoli. The rest, as they say, is history.

Tzolis is a similar profile of a player as the PSG superstar, and if he is anywhere near as good as him, Arsenal would be making an incredible signing.
