Some Arsenal fans are stunned after a report from The Telegraph claimed this week that Edu, Mikel Arteta and co are prepared to sell Alexandre Lacazette for as little as £15 million this summer.

The Frenchman will enter the final year of his contract at the end of this season. He has been in excellent form over the last few weeks, but there is still a good chance that Arsenal will cash-in on him this summer.

The Gunners forked out a then club-record £46.5 million for Lacazette in 2017. (BBC) He is worth nowhere near that amount now, but Arsenal fans were hoping that the striker would be worth at least £30 million.

If the report is to be believed, that isn’t the case. Arsenal value Lacazette at a fee between £15 million and £20 million – the same amount that Edu and Arteta think they can sign Celtic star Odsonne Edouard for this summer.

The Hoops striker would certainly be an exceptional addition. He is very similar to Lacazette in terms of playing style, and the fact that he is still only 23 makes him an ideal player for us to replace our number nine with.

Edouard, like Lacazette, will enter the final year of his contract. Getting him for £15 million would be an incredible bit of business by Edu, but if that means that we will sell our own French centre-forward for the same fee, it’s probably not right.

Lacazette, labelled a ‘top player’ by Gabriel Martinelli, is far more accomplished at the top level than Edouard.

The Arsenal man may only have a year left on his deal this summer, but he is still an exceptional player, and his performances this term show that he is worth a lot more than what has been reported.

Arsenal fans are not happy with Edu’s valuation of Lacazette.

Here’s how a few supporters reacted to the news on Twitter.
