Luton Town’s chief executive Gary Sweet has just told Sky Sports journalist Jamie Weir that he’s in talks with Arsenal to sign Albert Sambi Lokonga.
The Gunenrs’ focus is on outgoings today. Mikel Arteta has already confirmed he’s not expecting anyone to come in, but there are plenty who are heading out.
Lokonga could be one of them.

Luton Town’s CEO confirms negotiations with Arsenal for Albert Sambi Lokonga
Arsenal signed Albert Sambi Lokonga from Anderlecht in the summer of 2021.
Why Pele Is Overrated.
The midfielder, who was once compared to Yaya Toure by Vincent Kompany, had a great start to life in North London, but his performances dipped in the second half of his debut season.
Lokonga never looked like his old self from that point, and he was sent out on loan to Crystal Palace in January this year. He did fairly well there, but the Eagles didn’t fancy signing him permanently.

Now, with just over six hours left in the transfer window, Lokonga needs a new home. A permanent deal looks extremely unlikely at this point, but there is an option for him to go out on loan.
Newly promoted Luton Town are interested in signing Lokonga, and the club’s chief executive, Gary Sweet, apparently confirmed to Sky Sports journalist Jamie Weir that he is in talks with Arsenal to seal a deal for the Belgian.
Fabrizio Romano then backed the above claim and revealed that Arsenal are happy to sanction this move. It’s now down to Lokonga to make a decision.
Weir said live on Sky Sports: “I’ve just bumped into the chief executive Gary Sweet down the touchline as well. He looks pretty stressed as you can imagine. He’s trying to deal with the first game at Kenilworth Road whilst there’s still building work going down and transfer deadline day.
“He says he’s a busy man, he’s still dealing with a few bits and bobs. Albert Sambi Lokonga on loan form Arsenal is something that they’re negotiating at the moment.”
