Sky Sports pundit Michael Dawson hailed Pedro Neto for his ‘lightening’ pace against Manchester City, amid reports of an enquiry by Arsenal for the Wolves star’s transfer.
The Old Gold hosted the Citizens at Molineux on Saturday and grabbed a surprise early lead after just 13 minutes. Ruben Dias could only turn the ball into his own net after Neto drilled a pass across Manchester City’s box. Dias’ lazy attempted block lifted the ball over Ederson.
Neto did wonderfully over on Wolves’ right wing to create space to cross under duress from Phil Foden and Nathan Ake. The 23-year-old shrugged off the former’s attempted challenge and breezed around Ake. Dias aimlessly tried to stop the ball from reaching Matheus Cunha.

Dawson praises Neto amid Arsenal enquiring into the Wolves winger’s transfer
The pace Neto showed to run away from Foden and Ake astounded Dawson as Wolves took an early lead against Manchester City. It also came amid reports by The Telegraph earlier on in September that Arsenal approached Wolves to discuss Neto’s transfer during the summer.
“It’s the first time probably they’ve got into the Manchester City 18-yard box,” Dawson told Sky Sports News (30/09, 15:12). “It’s Pedro Neto down the right-hand side. He is lightening. He goes past Phil Foden then he comes up against Nathan Ake, he goes past Nathan Ake.”
A fully-fit Neto is showing why Arteta explored the Portuguese’s services
Neto is a long-term transfer target of Arsenal who made Wolves an enquiry about taking the Portugal forward to Emirates Stadium this summer. He has earned Mikel Arteta’s admiration over the forward’s four years at Molineux. And Neto has proven why once again this season.

Arsenal moved to speak with Wolves after Neto offered just one assist and no goals through 18 Premier League games. But his 2022/23 season was heavily disrupted after sustaining an ankle injury. It forced the 5 ft 7 dynamo to undergo surgery and also sit out the World Cup.
But a fully-fit Neto is showing why Arsenal explored his transfer from Wolves after offering a constant goal threat. He started against Manchester City on Saturday having already struck four assists and a goal over six Premier League games. He even played the full 90 in each.
