According to a report from The Telegraph, Arsenal are weighing up a move for Lyon star Moussa Dembele ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Frenchman is currently on loan at Atletico Madrid, but he has barely played there. Since joining Los Colchoneros in January, Dembele has made just six substitute appearances in all competitions.

Atleti have an option to buy the former Celtic man permanently for £30 million, but they are likely to pass. The Frenchman will return to Lyon in the summer and if the report is to be believed, Les Gones are prepared to sell him for just £25 million.

It is still unclear if Arsenal will need a new striker for next season. Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s futures are up in the air, and if even one of them decides to stay, there will be no space for a new number nine.

However, if Arsenal sell both of them, a new striker will be an absolute necessity. Dembele, who scored 47 goals and provided 13 assists in the two seasons prior to this one, looks like a brilliant option on paper, but some fans aren’t fully convinced.

Arsenal should be looking to bring in someone superior to Lacazette but many supporters feel that Dembele is ‘basically Laca 2.0’.
