Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli was of interest to Bayern Munich in the summer.
There was a lot of speculation regarding the Brazil international after two difficult seasons at the Emirates Stadium.
Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze’s arrivals further cast a shadow of doubt over Martinelli’s future, but the attacker ended up staying.
However, he was a target for Bayern Munich in the summer, but Arsenal ended conversations after hearing how much the Germans were prepared to pay for him.
Arsenal’s response after hearing the laughable fee Bayern Munich wanted Gabriel Martinelli for
Gabriel Martinelli is an incredible player on his day.
The Brazil international scored 15 goals in the Premier League in the 2022/23 season and was widely recognised as one of the best wingers in England.
Yes, Martinelli has struggled with form and injuries over the last two years, but he is still very valuable because of his age, ability and potential.
However, Bayern Munich felt they could sign Martinelli for a fee between £26.1 million and £30.5 million.
That’s according to Christian Falk, who wrote in his column on Caught Offside: “Bayern were interested in Martinelli in the last summer window, this is true!
“Indeed, he was a topic on a long, long list – certainly considerably lower on the list than Nico Williams and Jamie Gittins. However, they didn’t get either of the two, so they had ideas about new players, and Martinelli indeed was one of the players.
“I heard that Bayern Munich would’ve paid €30m-35m [£26.1m-30.5m] and that wasn’t enough for Arsenal. They said, “No, we don’t have to talk about that”.”

£26m for Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli is a joke
Bayern could not have been serious when they thought a fee between £26 million and £30 million would’ve been enough to land Martinelli.
Arsenal have historically been awful at sales, but not this bad.
Even Transfermarkt value Martinelli at €55 million (£48m), while Football Transfers’ Estimated Transfer Value model says he could be worth up to €57 million (£50m).
This shows that the fee Bayern were ready to offer for Martinelli was a joke, and Arsenal were right not to consider it.
