It’s hard to know what to expect from Arsenal in this summer transfer window.

The Gunners have spent big in recent years in pursuit of the Premier League title, but now that they have reached the top of the mountain, we don’t know for sure how Arsenal will handle this.

As of yet, there have been no outfield signings, and the only deal that looks close is for a former Norwich City winger – which, with all due respect, isn’t the most appetising move Arsenal have ever made.

Some champions try to build from a position of strength – look at Liverpool last season, and that can disrupt a squad.

Meanwhile, other league winners can rest on their laurels and try to go again with the same group of players – a la Arsenal after the Invincibles season.

It’s unclear which direction Arsenal will go. However, according to Adam Crafton, speaking on The Athletic, there may be something exciting brewing once again at the Emirates.

Arsenal aiming for ‘disruptive’ summer transfer window.

Crafton shared what he’s heard about Arsenal’s plans for this window.

The journalist says that he’s heard from a top European source that Arsenal want to do ‘disruptive’ business this summer that will take the team to the next level.

“I will say on Arsenal, I had a conversation maybe in May with somebody who is incredibly well connected in European football who said the talk of people he was speaking to is that Arsenal were ready to do some seriously sort of disruptive business this summer in terms of taking the team from where they were up to that next level,” Crafton said.

“So I do think that money is there and it’s just how they kind of plan to proceed and to use it.”

It’s unclear what ‘disruptive’ means in this sense, but, by the sounds of it, Arsenal aren’t afraid to tread on a few toes this summer in order to get what they want.

Mikel Arteta wants to take his team to the next level, and it could well be the case that he’s happy to upset the applecart in order to do just that.
