Tottenham could now cost Arsenal their chance at signing Morgan Rogers this summer

Arsenal are being heavily linked with a move for England star Morgan Rogers but in a strange twist of fate, it could be Tottenham who end up stopping the Gunners.

Rogers is very much at the top of the list when it comes to the attacking midfield options Arsenal are assessing this summer.

Currently away with England, Aston Villa are expected to demand around £100m for their star man and Arsenal very much want to be involved in any deal.

However, while the Gunners are super keen, Tottenham’s own transfer dealings could see Manchester City swoop in for Rogers.

Manchester City could sign Morgan Rogers ahead of Arsenal

We all know that Rogers has a history with Man City as it is but if he was to sign for them ahead of Arsenal it would sting a bit.

However, Flashscore are reporting that City could well make their move for Rogers is they can finalise a deal with Tottenham to sell Savinho.

Savinho is being heavily linked with a move away from The Etihad this summer and with Tottenham firmly in the midst of a rebuild under Robert De Zerbi, there is an expectancy this deal gets done.

City, then, will then have money and room within their squad and wage budget to make a move for Rogers.

Furthermore, City have cleared plenty of their wage bill this summer with the likes of John Stones and Bernardo Silva leaving, while even Pep Guardiola’s departure will serve them well financially.

As for Arsenal, they’ll need to be on the ball to swoop quickly if there is a sign of City doing the business.

In terms of ideal signings for the Gunners this summer, it’s hard to argue that Rogers doesn’t fit the bill completely.

Should he decide to sign for City despite Arsenal being champions, it might well send a negative message before a ball has even been kicked in the 26/27 season.
