Tottenham have emerged as potential suitors for Marcus Rashford this summer.
The Manchester United forward has been linked with Arsenal as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen the left side of the attack.
But according to The i Paper, Spurs are also monitoring the situation, keen to add proven Premier League experience to their fairly young squad.
Rashford is under contract at United until 2028, with the club understood to want to move him on to save on his £325,000-a-week wages while he remains a sellable asset.
👀 Name a better left wing signing for Arsenal than Marcus Rashford…
The England international has been linked with a move to the Emirates!
Barcelona hold a £26million option to buy that expires on June 15, but sources in Spain suggest they are unlikely to meet that figure following Anthony Gordon’s arrival at the Camp Nou, with an offer closer to £15million considered more likely — if it comes at all.
That leaves the door open for Premier League clubs. Newcastle, Aston Villa, Tottenham and Bayern Munich are all understood to be monitoring developments, while United retain confidence that interest from multiple parties will help them secure a respectable fee.
Why Arsenal should think carefully before entering the Marcus Rashford race
Marcus Rashford’s quality is undeniable. On his day, he is unplayable.
Paul Scholes reckons a move to Arsenal would be great for both parties, and on paper, the logic is fair.
But there are concerns.
Rashford’s inconsistency throughout his career, the huge wages involved, and the premium United would demand from a direct Premier League rival all give cause for pause.
Perhaps most critically, Rashford has shown he is not the type to go the extra mile when out of possession — a trait that Arteta simply will not stand for.
Yes, Arsenal need elite quality that improves the starting XI, and Rashford is a better player than Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, on paper.
But whether Arsenal get his best days consistently enough is the risk Arteta will have to weigh carefully, particularly with Tottenham now in the picture.
