Tottenham ‘keeping tabs’ on Arsenal star in Sol Campbell revenge plot, ‘negotiations could accelerate’

Tottenham could shock Arsenal in the transfer window with a swoop for one of Mikel Arteta’s brightest attackers.

There are few Premier League rivalries as fierce as the North London Derby, so it’s unsurprising to rarely see Arsenal and Spurs trading players with each other.

That’s not to say it hasn’t been done, as both sets of fans will tell you when Sol Campbell crops up in conversation.

Spurs fans despise their former captain while Arsenal fans adore him, and now, the Lilywhites could fulfil delayed revenge on their neighbours.

Tottenham are keeping tabs on Gabriel Jesus

After finishing 36 points and 16 places below Arsenal last season, Spurs have gone rather quiet on the battle of North London front.

That being said, if there’s one way that those from N17 could get one back on the Gunners, it’s by signing a player adored by supporters at the Emirates.

As unlikely as that sounds, it’s something Spurs don’t seem to think is impossible, as Caught Offside have reported that Thomas Frank is taking a liking to Gabriel Jesus

Flamengo have been linked to Jesus, whose position in the pecking order has taken another hit in the form of Viktor Gyokeres.

Though a move back to Brazil is reportedly an option, Caught Offside’s report reveals the European clubs eyeing Jesus, one of which is Spurs.

Along with Tottenham, Inter Milan, Barcelona, AC Milan, and Newcastle United have been mentioned as those ‘keeping tabs on’ the Brazilian.

It’s made clear that no formal offers have been made; however, ‘negotiations could accelerate’ for one reason.

Once Jesus’ fitness status becomes clearer, it’s thought that clubs will take a closer look at the forward, who has been out of action since January with an ACL injury.

Players Tottenham have signed from Arsenal

Jesus would be a top signing for most Premier League clubs, as his ability is staggering; it’s just his injury record that lets him down.

Spurs could get their own back on Arsenal by completing a move, in what would be a history-making transfer.

Arsenal aren’t keen on selling to Spurs, as history tells you, with only four exchanges happening directly from N5 to N17.

The idea of Jesus becoming the fifth is, at this moment, difficult to believe, but as we know, anything can happen in football.
