Arsenal remain intent on adding a left-sided attacker to Mikel Arteta’s squad this summer, although only if they are able to sanction some departures.

The Gunners have been active in the window thus far, signing the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Noni Madueke and Martin Zubimendi for significant fees.

While the arrivals of Gyokeres and Madueke will bolster the quality of Arteta’s attack, the North London outfit aren’t totally satisfied with their offensive cohort, and still believe it could be improved.

However, having already spent almost £200 million this summer and with Arteta’s ensemble currently looking somewhat bloated, sales will have to be made before a further incoming deal is enacted.

Eberechi Eze not expected to play vs Chelsea

Eberechi Eze has been heavily linked with Arsenal in the last month or so.

The Crystal Palace talisman can operate as a number ten or as a left winger, perfectly fitting the profile the Gunners need in their squad.

However, Tottenham have recently expressed interest in Eze, and it appears a deal on that front is edging closer.

According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, the 27-year-old is not expected to feature in Palace’s opening Premier League fixture against Chelsea on Sunday afternoon at Stamford Bridge.

This absence is said to be a result of Spurs moving closer to completing a deal for the player, who is eager to leave Selhurst Park.

Arsenal have reportedly cooled their interest since Ethan Nwaneri signed a new long-term contract, and this has allowed Tottenham to swoop in and begin negotiating with the Eagles.

Eze has been described as ‘unbelievable’, and thus, missing out on a player of his calibre would certainly be a blow for the Gunners.

Crystal Palace have identified their Eberechi Eze replacement

Another deal is now moving forward that essentially confirms Eze will exit South London this summer.

According to Tavolieri, Palace have made an offer for Leicester City’s Bilal El Khannouss.

The offer has been rejected by the Foxes, although Palace are expected to return with an improved proposal, and the player is keen on the move.

El Khannouss is also a left-sided number ten, and is undoubtedly viewed as a direct replacement for Eze.

Thus, it looks increasingly likely that Eze will be joining Tottenham, and Arsenal will have to look elsewhere for a left-wing recruit.
