Arsenal are expected to be very active in the upcoming summer transfer window.

The Gunners will need reinforcements in both full-back positions and possibly in central defence and up front too. The most important area that needs strengthening, however, will be central midfield.

Dani Ceballos will return to Madrid in June and it is unclear if Arsenal will try to re-sign him. Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi are expected to be sold this summer, while Joe Willock and Ainsley Maitland-Niles’ futures are up in the air.

That leaves Arsenal with just Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka and Mohamed Elneny in the middle of the park. Mikel Arteta will have to bring another top-quality midfielder in, and if reports are to be believed, Brighton star Yves Bissouma is on top of his wish list. (Football London)

The Mali international is viewed by many as the perfect partner to Partey at the Emirates next season. But Football Club revealed in January that Bissouma is valued at about £25 million, but his recent performances are sure to push that price up.

The 24-year-old had an outstanding game for Brighton against Everton last night. His performance left Gary Lineker in awe and the legendary Englishman took to Twitter to express his admiration.

The Insider’s View:

Bissouma is an exceptional footballer indeed. He has been absolutely brilliant for the Seagulls since joining them, and it is only a matter of time before he makes the jump to a bigger club.

On paper, a midfield pair of him and Partey would be world-class. They would make Arsenal an extremely difficult side to break down, and Bissouma’s defensive brilliance will allow the Ghanaian to have a bigger impact in attack as well.

Arsenal fans are hoping that Arteta and Edu will make a move for Bissouma this summer. It will not be easy as a number of other clubs will be interested in his services as well, but the midfielder is reportedly an Arsenal fan, and that could sway the deal in our favour.
