What Arsenal really think about Gabriel Martinelli’s future as Bayern Munich line up transfer switch

Arsenal view a long-term future for Gabriel Martinelli at the club, amid links with a transfer to Bayern Munich, though the star could see his game time limited in the near future due to other signings, Arsenal Insider understands.

The Gunners have faced uncertainty in their forward ranks, as Andrea Berta looks for ways to add more goals to the team.

A centre-forward is at the top of the list, but so too is a left-winger for Arsenal, as they look to bring some balance to the frontline.

That may have a knock-on effect on Mikel Arteta’s current squad, however, and the playing time some of those stars get.

Not least Gabriel Martinelli, who is now in the sights of one of Arsenal’s Champions League rivals.

Arsenal see a long-term future for Gabriel Martinelli, but could face limited game time

Gabriel Martinelli is drawing transfer interest from Bayern Munich, as the Bavarian club look at landing the winger for their frontline rebuild.

The Bundesliga champions have been in the same market as Arsenal this summer, with plenty of overlap in left-wing targets.

The likes of Rodrygo, Bradley Barcola and Nico Williams have been on the radar for both teams, though those deals seem difficult to manufacture.

With that in mind, Arsenal Insider understands that Bayern Munich do hold a genuine interest in Arsenal star Gabriel Martinelli.

The Brazilian is still viewed as an important player, though the addition of one or two forward players could complicate his future.

Speaking to Arsenal Insider, transfer expert Graeme Bailey explained more on the situation as he said: “Arsenal have held talks with Martinelli about a new contract, we know they see a long-term future for him, but he also knows that any new signings could see his game time somewhat limited.

“Bayern Munich are not the only interested party, others around Europe are keen and the Saudi Pro League.”

It remains to be seen what that means for the future of Martinelli, as talks surrounding his future continue.

How much is Gabriel Martinelli worth in the transfer market?

If Martinelli is to leave Arsenal, one of the main questions to come from it would be just how much the Gunners could fetch in terms of price.

Selling hasn’t been one of the club’s strongest points, with Arsenal’s most expensive sale still being Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain to Liverpool in the 2017/18 season.

Martinelli certainly has a chance to smash through that barrier, should he leave.

According to Transfermarkt, Martinelli’s transfer value sits at €55 million (£47 million) at the moment.

Given the fact that he is just 24, with plenty of room to grow further, there’s no doubt that Arsenal would want more than that to sanction an exit.
