Arsenal will be well aware that Newcastle United are not an easy club to sign players from.
Liverpool found that out the hard way with their pursuit of Alexander Isak in last summer’s transfer window.
The relationship between Isak and Newcastle was ruined in the process, but the transfer did go through in the end, on transfer deadline day.
Arsenal have now had a bid rejected for Bruno Guimaraes, and fans of both clubs have been wondering if there will be a repeat of the Isak saga.
Bruno Guimaraes posted this video about Arsenal in 2022. Do you still want to sign him?
Newcastle would be shocked if Arsenal-linked Bruno Guimaraes forced a move like Alexander Isak
Isak took extreme measures to leave Newcastle United last summer.
The Swede refused to train, did not fly out with the rest of his squad for their pre-season tour and went to war with his club to secure a transfer.
Newcastle did not back down either and made it incredibly hard for Liverpool to get the striker. The deal only went through on the final day of the window.
The Telegraph have now reported that Guimaraes may have to copy Isak’s behaviour because the Toon are not going to make it easy for him to leave either.
However, club insiders have claimed that they would be shocked if that happens because of the Brazilian’s connection with the fan base and the city.
We think neither Arsenal nor Guimaraes will want this saga to go down that route in this summer’s transfer window.
It remains to be seen now if the two clubs can strike a deal without any drama.

Bruno Guimaraes to Arsenal would be a better signing than Alexander Isak to Liverpool
Liverpool spent an absolute fortune to sign Isak after a long transfer saga.
Everyone expected the Swede to fire the Reds to another Premier League title, but he had an extremely difficult debut season.
Isak scored just four goals in 22 games and had multiple injury issues. Even though it is harsh to say, it is clear that he hasn’t lived up to all the hype.
Guimaraes, on the other hand, will cost significantly less, will not be under as much pressure, and will be joining a much more stable side.
For that reason, we think the Brazil international will prove to be a better signing for Arsenal, should they complete this deal.
