Wolves have now joined Newcastle United and a host of teams with an interest in the transfer of Amario Cozier-Duberry with the Arsenal academy talent’s contract ending.

The 18-year-old has been at Hale End since 2019 and is now firmly on the fringe of manager Mikel Arteta’s first-team. But Arsenal are now at risk of seeing Cozier-Duberry leave for little more than a compensatory fee for his development as the winger’s contract expires in June.

Reports by the Evening Standard earlier this week stated that Arsenal have held talks over a new contract with Cozier-Duberry. Talks are also ongoing between the north London natives and the attacker’s camp. But Newcastle are just one of many clubs to have scouted him, too.

Wolves join Newcastle in the race to sign Arsenal gem Cozier-Duberry

Clubs from across Europe have eyed Arsenal prospect Cozier-Duberry after learning about his contractual situation. AFC Ajax, Borussia Dortmund, Newcastle and RSC Anderlecht have so far led the charge. While Championship and League One clubs have also eyed a loan deal.

Arsenal are not interested in letting Cozier-Duberry leave Emirates Stadium on loan in a last-gasp winter transfer. But Fabrizio Romano now claims that Wolves are the latest club to hold an interest in a move. The race to sign the Arsenal academy ace is also wide open right now.

Romano further supports the Evening Standard’s claims that Arsenal are keen to give Cozier-Duberry a new contract. The Gunners have been working on fresh terms for the winger. But there is still some differences that could see negotiations continue over the coming months.

Arteta might have a huge say in Cozier-Duberry staying in north London

Arsenal boss Arteta might have a huge say in Cozier-Duberry staying in north London with a new contract and snubbing interest from Newcastle, Wolves et al in a transfer. The tactician is still yet to hand the winger his first-team debut following eight appearances on the bench.

Cozier-Duberry has only made a senior squad twice this season with the Gunners’ Carabao Cup win at Brentford. He also made their bench at home to Sevilla in the Champions League but a maiden outing awaits. He has not made a Premier League matchday squad since May.

The attacker boasts five goals and two assists in eight PL2 games so far this term, plus two goals in four UEFA Youth League ties, though. He has been a part of Arsenal’s Under-21 side since 2021/22. Cozier-Duberry also stunned Jack Wilshere whilst in his U18 side in 2022/23.

“Amario is very exciting and Mikel likes him,” Wilshere told football.london back in April. “He reminds me of Bukayo Saka: [He] plays in the same position as him [and] needs to get better with his decision-making like Bukayo did. But he’s definitely exciting.

“In some moments he’s unplayable. You give him the ball and he can make things happen. You can set up a team and have a game plan. But when you’ve got individuals like that, you’ve got a chance.”
